Bio:
Yami Lee was born and raised in Stockton, California. Her parents, Pao Lee and Shua Mua are both from Laos and are also both deaf. Both parents met when they came to the U.S. and had Yami on January 10, 1993. Yami who was always inspired by music from her brothers and tv found singing and acting something she knew she would love and do for the rest of her life. Her grandma who is one of her idols and inspirations is the one holding up her family she says. She is Hmong. Yami's talent in singing was discovered when she joined her middle school talent show and won first place.
Her passion for music has grown through-out her life along with acting and dancing. Her grandma was always complaining about why Yami was always going out and why she was such a rebel. What she didn't know was that Yami was going out doing shows at open mics and coffee shops. Because her speaking in Hmong was poor, it was hard to communicate and tell them what she was doing. After doing shows at Hmong events, people started telling her grandma about how great of a singer she was and how amazing she will be. Her grandma now calls her, "the girl that sings in the family," when she talks with her friends. She says, "I want to be the first Asian-American major artist in America." Why? Because it would bring great Pride and Happiness to the Hmong and Asian Community. It's Our Time Now!!!
